About Sarah


Sarah comes from a family of teachers and has been working in the field of education  since she was in high school. She has had over 13 years of professional teaching experience in a range of different positions. She began her career as an Academic Life Skills teacher at an elementary school in the Howard County Public School System. In this position, Sarah received extensive training for children with moderate to severe disabilities such as ABA and Pyramid PECS. She later worked as a Special Education Resource Teacher in a Title I school in Howard County. She was also responsible for the after school Bridges program and helped develop programs that would provide intervention for children who were below grade level or considered at risk and in need of additional support. She then took some time off from her career to spend time at home with her three children and worked part time as a Home and Hospital Teacher for HCPSS. She is currently working as a tutor and homeschool consultant. She is Orton-Gillingham Plus trained and certified. Sarah lives in Catonsville, Maryland with her husband and three young children.

Sarah received her B.S. degree in 2007 from Towson University in Elementary and Special Education. She received her M.S. in 2011 from John’s Hopkins University in School Administration and Supervision. Sarah is a Maryland State Certified Teacher and also holds Advanced Professional and Administrator I certifications. In addition she is a National Board Certified teacher in the area of Moderate to Severe Disabilities for ages birth-21.

Sarah believes that relationship building is the key to helping students be successful. Families know their children best and it is important to form trusting partnerships with them in order to really get to know the child and their unique learning needs. It is so important to have engaging instruction that is individualized and highly motivating. Sarah enjoys getting to know her students and taking the time to create a specialized program that is tailored to each child.
